Artist Review: Azzedine

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

It’s very rare that an artist reaches out to the platform for a review and sends me music that’s so good, I almost can’t find the words to describe it. Who is this artist? He goes by Azzedine, and this is a name that’s gonna stick with you when you listen to his music.

This stroke of genius hails from the United Kingdom, and this Rock & Soul artist is nothing short of amazement to behold. This amazement comes in the form of an EP called Away, and if I were a fan that could rename the EP just for fun, I would change it to Blown Away. Yes, this EP is that good.

If you’ve ever watched an American Idol season or have heard a lot of today’s contemporary artists with world-class sounds, Azzedine would fit right in. With a blissful several-octave vocal range, a perfect vibrato, and above-average songwriting techniques behind the mastered craft, we have a very delicious stew. And there’s more than enough to go around.

With his opening track “Hello (feat. Alejandra Isabel Bedale)”, a duet-oriented upbeat song with two angelic voices perfectly complimenting each other, you’re gonna hear the perfect ingredients to how a duet was meant to be written, sung, and executed. From a subtle verse that builds gradually, by the time you hit the chorus, you’re already head over heels for this song. The use of piano and a smooth rhythm section really helps define this song’s production value, and in my opinion, couldn’t have been done better. This is just an amazing song from start to finish.

The other track that really grabbed me was the follow-up EP-title track, “Away (feat. Bazza B)”. There’s pure Soul in this song, and in my opinion has the most powerful chorus on the EP. With another piano-lead song with dynamic and punchy verses, we find another great buildup to the chorus that transitions every defining factor perfectly, and also showcases Azzedine in the most effective way. This is another track that keeps you listening, and will render you hooked without a doubt.

I could go on all day about this EP, but I would much rather put it simply to you: GO LISTEN TO THIS EP RIGHT NOW. If you’re looking for that musical spiritual awakening, Away will give that to you and so much more.
