Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Dave Welsh
Intelligently smashing through preconceived notions of what a modern Hip Hop song brings truly comes from the hearts and souls from any Hip Hop unity like N.Y.B. and is very scarce in this day and age. So when we heard this track, it was quite a treat.
This song and artist collectively is definitely to be commended and recognized for the scarcity of what today’s mainstream society lacks the most–compassion in times of need with an exploitation-free environment and being part of the solution to a very big problem.
Hip Hop Pioneers Never Yield Business emphasize on this not only in their clever and witty single “Survive The Struggle”, but as the people themselves–acting on behalf of their musical content and putting the perfect parallels in between who they are when it comes to helping others (in this case, Hurricane Harvey) and the rhythmic flow and driven lyrical messages as well as fantastic production value that conveys a Universal message that is very powerful and cannot be mistaken for anything but authentic and real.
The song’s beat goes perfectly with the story-telling method that’s being utilized in a multifaceted and well thought out way; it shines on the content very effectively, has something that almost everybody can identify with, and has the actual basis of the content being demonstrated for who they are, by helping those survive the struggle.
N.Y.B.‘s wit that transpires throughout the entire song’s execution makes this track very hooky, well assembled, and crafted to its core. We’re very honored to write a review for this song not just for its quality, but for its positivity and encouragement to take action. This is one powerful song that will leave you awaiting what tricks N.Y.B. has up the sleeves. If they were set out to make an impression, “Survive The Struggle” did exactly just that.
