Review by: Justyn Brodsky
Versatile, political, relentless, and emotional, this Hip Hop full-length with R&B elements that combines a diversified chemistry from yesterday and today’s Rap styles is a very memorable collection of tracks that surrounds a theme of economic and social struggles.
Award-Winning Hip Hop Pioneer and Activist C.H.A.D. The Change‘s The Red Pill LP emphasizes on a lot of issues, personal and universal problems that are endured every day by an aghast society, along with production value and versatility that showcases the many powerful messages this album has to offer in the most effective ways possible.
With a handful of elite feature artists making appearances on several tracks to supply some ear-catchy verses, hooks, and everything in between, The Red Pill is definitely a rollercoaster of raw emotions and important messages all put together to bring an overall picture to the forefront. And one of the things I loved about this album is how each track had something different to offer up in its overall execution. It isn’t repetitive, but at the same time doesn’t stray from its path.
“Negative Energy” definitely caught my ear with its hooky chorus, and 90’s influenced beat that showcases this song’s lyrical content beautifully. C.H.A.D.‘s mid-ranged voice has mainstream quality and definitely has that quality in a way that makes you feel that he was destined to Rap. Ontop of his vocal quality, his witty and clever rhyming structures add to his seemingly endless amount of likability factors. And brings with him a signature sound that is true breath of fresh air.
“Change The World” is another song that caught my ear with its charismatic hook and dynamically uplifting vibe. It’s another track that shows many defining factors to C.H.A.D.‘s versatility as well as ability. Especially if you’re a fan of Rappers that can sing some of their own hooks. But overall, this track is an absolute gem and follows the formula this LP ties together.
Best part about The Red Pill is you won’t hear the same thing twice. Each track, though casting light on specific concepts, offers up something new and lovable on every song. To me, this is an album of Anthems. Songs that could stand on their own with a powerful foreground, or blend in with a collection of other Anthems that stir up into a chemistry explosion of something amazing altogether. And that’s what this LP really shines on. The fact that this is an LP that really took its time to make sure every track was on point. That way you won’t have one song to skip over. You’ll love every track The Red Pill has to offer.
