Artist Review: Ysteeze – “Slave” LP

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

Some of the best Indie Hip Hop comes through our platform quite often. And Mobile, Alabama’s Ysteeze is more evidence of that, indisputably.

Taking elements of old school Hip Hop and today’s main stream sensibility is a hard feat nowadays with Producers constantly saturating their artists with auto-tune and rushed beats just to make a quick buck. This is not the case for Ysteeze‘s “Slave” LP. And there are many reasons why.

One thing that’s hard to execute in this day and age is authenticity and versatility, because a lot of indie artists are drawn to the many trends that come and go in today’s music industry. But we get a breath of fresh air with this Album. “Slave” not only has some of the most authentic production quality, but outstanding musicianship as well. The beats are very detailed with an ambient feel that puts a very effective aura into the signature sound. Combined with Ysteeze‘s energy, and you’ll hear a mix and chemistry that resonates perfectly with the atmosphere of every song.

Ysteeze‘s rhymes are dynamic, innovative, and you can tell he knows how to put himself in the forefront in a way you can understand and identify with him. He keeps you engaged in his lyrical content, which is witty and clever in many ways. And make no mistake, this artist has been widely acclaimed in his scene and beyond. Since coming out of the gate 3 years ago, Ysteeze wasted no time and definitely hit the ground running by doing what a lot of artists fail to do in this era, and that’s legwork. Not just to get his name out, but also putting out music that has a fine tooth comb running through it before dropping it. He took his time to make sure things are done right.

Ysteeze is definitely one of the absolute best in the game so far for 2018 that we’ve run into. And you will definitely hear why when you take a listen to “Slave” yourself. You can also find him at this year’s BET Awards, and is currently working on the album’s sequel as we speak. He also has the official Slave Tour coming to a city near you this summer. Don’t miss out on this artist, because he’s gonna skyrocket before you know it. Get to know him early on so you can say you heard about him through us, and saw him come up the same way we are seeing it.
