There are some artists out there that are truly dynamic and original. Artists with soul, spirit and a vital voice to their prospective genre. We get a hypnotic R&B-infused signature sound with an ambience like we’ve never heard before with Shina Mack‘s upcoming debut EP Fear, Love.
This EP being a debut effort is a great example of truly getting it right on the first try and hitting the ground running. It’s a captivating catalogue of tracks, and really showcases Shina‘s gift of voice, authenticity and songwriting structures. If this is his first release, then I am stoked for what his subsequent releases have in store.
Fear, Love, as a whole, focuses on two specific topics: fear and love. This project is a personal reflection of struggles birthed from love in a crude world that curates fear. It embraces the full spectrum of love itself – the highs and lows, ups and downs – how truly beautiful you can and cannot be. Fear, on the other hand, is unfortunately faced by everyone and it’s something you either conquer or get defeated by. As you listen to the EP, you will hear expressions of Shina‘s own experiences and the perspectives he takes to understanding them.
Each track glistens with a mix of yesterday’s and today’s R&B feel, but also implements several modern and tasty additives from other genres that really helps showcase Shina on many different angles with every track, offering up something new every time. His versatile voice is very eclectic and real, he is humble yet poised and precise when it comes to his projection. And his melody choices are incredibly crucial and effective when it comes to really catching the listener’s ear.
This EP, especially with its designated theme and concept, also provides a lot of soul and raw emotion. Shina‘s passion is at the forefront at all times and his story telling narratives are extremely thought provoking, gripping and really gets you at your core. His artistic merit shines both musically and personally, and maintains the perfect balance and composure through each track.
This EP has that staying power – that ability to stay with you even after it’s over. Being able to come back to these songs time and time again, and finding a whole new appreciation of these songs no matter how many times you give them a listen. There are melodies that will stick in your head and lyrical messages you’ll identify with. Shina really connects with his listeners on this EP, and really entices you to invest yourself into him as an artist and person as well. You’ll be able to walk a mile in his shoes…and realize you’ve been down the same path.

Fear, Love was produced by Ryan “Top Secret” Anderson with work from Ryini beats and Unhuman. The EP also has an array of feature artists including Tre Amani, Ayce, The Indigo, and k.lef. with additional vocals from Mo god. The EP officially drops on November 20th and will be available on several digital music retailers and streaming platforms. This EP is an astonishing first impression for Shina Mack and will be one of your favorite releases before the year is out. Mark your calendars, you’ll be glad you did.
