Artist Review: G-Pak – “This Is It (feat. Brooke Lynne)”

There’s some heat coming out of the Brooklyn borough of NYC, and it’s coming out fire hot. With an insatiable knack for clever lyrical outbursts and wordsmithy rhyming schemes, Hip Hop artist G-Pak comes out swinging with his latest club-worthy banger “This Is It (feat. Brooke Lynne)”.

This single is all about the vibes. It has a versatile beat with auspicious detail in the mix that easily grabs your undivided attention with its bump and grind swagger, multifaceted use of instruments and swell pacing that sets the tone for the vocals to be extremely effective. And this track delivers in full. With a sing-songy chorus with an engaging punchline and melody choices, G-Pak really shines on this song from the very first measure and leads us into verses that are cleverly executed and projected.

Sharing the dueling verse duties with female feature artist Brooke Lynne, the rhymes, bars and hooks are eyebrow raising and demonstratively skilled beyond today’s run-of-the-mill rappers. Brooke‘s flow is charismatic, attitude-driven, and easy to resonate with the beat that continues to drive this song forward. When we get to the G-Pak verse, he ties the track together perfectly with his mid-ranged vocal approach and his undeniably smooth way with words; proving it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

The production value on “This Is It” is very detail oriented and really feels like a track that has been worked on diligently without a rush job. The dynamic use of vocal takes is one of the strongest components this song offers and you can really hear this stroke of genius each time you re-listen to it. And that’s another strongpoint; this track has a plethora of likability factors and is easy to revisit, which will definitely entice you to check more into G-Pak‘s catalogue, both past, present and future. “This Is It” is an absolute gem for 2020, and really sets the bar high for the NYC music scene. You can’t go wrong with this song.
