Review by: Justyn W. Brodsky

Hailing from the landscapes of Denver, where the underground Rap scene is pivotal and crucial to its community, artists like P.I.V.O.T., a pioneer of the game, is a key player to the scene and continues to pave the way with his EP “Don’t Fear”. A 5-track record with clever lyrical outbursts and atmospheric beats blended into a Hip Hop concoction that has to be heard to be believed.

Being active only two years in the scene, this EP is an absolute mind blow. Packed with other notable feature artists including Tommycoupe, Payso Apxllx, and JayMan24, these songs have many lyrical messages that are self aware, well executed, and crafty with its content. “Ball Thru The Rain Pt. 1” starts the EP off strongly with multifaceted rhyming techniques that are clear and concise. P.I.V.O.T.‘s vocals are clean, state of the art, and has ambience with his vocal delivery that really showcases his signature style and artistic merit. Tracks like “Last” and “Saydat Gang” are fun and catchy but also portray a rhythmic sense of realness that really encompasses your attention to the detail oriented lyrics that flow almost flawlessly.

Closing track “Ball Thru The Rain Pt. 2” is another strong entity on this record that really ties it all together perfectly. While elements of old school Rap lends its textures to this EP, you can also clearly hear the versatile modern components that resonate through each measure that could easily put this EP among today’s chart toppers we’ve all come to know and love in the recent years. Overall, this record is both nostalgic and fresh, making it a must-listen for 2020 if you are looking for that real deal in the rap scene. You can’t go wrong with these songs. “Don’t Fear” is currently available on Spotify and other music outlets online.
