Exclusive Review: KCG – “I Hustle To Eat” & “Pimp Coupe” Singles

Emerging from the soundscapes of Chicago, Veteran/Rapper KCG began hitting the ground running in the music realm several years ago and since then has become a vital voice in the Hip Hop community. Known for his clever lyrical outbursts, smooth flow and dynamic word play, KCG has garnered an insatiable following and growing fan base, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Two of KCG‘s singles are big standouts in his discography, and have become big independent street buzzers and crucial for independent heat seekers. His first hit single “I Hustle To Eat” is a straight up banger with all the right ingredients in place. From a hard hitting beat, rhythmic tones and a tightly controlled fast flow that showcases KCG‘s multifaceted skill set, this track is anything but a disappointment – it’s on a whole other level. From clever punchlines and a very strong vocal projection, these facets are exactly what is needed to make a Hip Hop track a solid standout in its own right. “I Hustle To Eat” is the perfect track to really hear the many angles of talent that KCG possesses.

KCG‘s subsequent single “Pimp Coupe” is a more ambient track with great melody choices and a catchy hook that really puts a signature touch to the song. Toned down from the previous track, this sing-songy single has an anthemic and stylized beat with versatile hooks and bars that deliver up a solid mix of old school Hip Hop and today’s more swagger R&B sensibility. It’s a completely different song, but you can still tell it’s coming from the same artist. The verses are atmospheric, the chorus is dangerously catchy and the overall tone of the song is consistent, clever and has all the traits of a chart-topper.

Both of these singles are anthems and really showcase KCG‘s artistic merit. He’s the type of artist that will give you a strong first impression and make you a fan for life once you start exploring his discography. If you’re looking for true street heat coming out of the metropolitan Chicago area, then KCG is your draft pick. You’ll absolutely love both of these prominent singles.
