Cover Art of Kyle Oashu’s EP

If deeply conveyed poetry translated into an atmospheric formula of Hip Hop, then Kyle Oashu‘s EP ‘I Just Want to See the Sun Again’ would be the soundtrack. And if there’s one thing this album actually is, it’s poetic and anthemic.

Kyle‘s EP takes the body and soul on an ambient journey with six versatile tracks that showcase his artistic merit and skill set as a songwriter. His bars and hooks are crafty, the beats are toned with different moods and atmospheres, and the lyrics are self reflective and real. His opening track “Nimbus” gives a great example of the subtleties that take place behind the beat structures. It’s spacious, soothing and really puts an original foundation to Kyle‘s rapping style and overall execution of his multifaceted style. The subsequent track, “My Grandma Lives In Heaven”, is the banger of the album and presents a charismatically upbeat aura with great lyrical bars and story-telling punchlines. It’s definitely one of the standouts of this record.

With beautiful piano and synth swells throughout the beats, Kyle‘s vocal approach is not only effective, but brings a stylization of subtlety to the forefront that makes this album deep and uplifting. The song “Pretty Little Monster” gives more great highlights to Kyle‘s mid-range vocal structures which hones a craft that highlights precision and technique. All six tracks tie very well together and really explores a self reflective journey of loving yourself before you can love someone else. It’s an inspirational EP and explores the facets of who we positively become through our own learning curves. ‘I Just Want to See the Sun Again’ is a must-hear for 2020. You can find the EP on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital music streaming platforms.
