Exclusive Artist Review: STB The Don – “Project Home” Mixtape

Rising 22-year-old recording artist STB The Don has been hitting the ground running since his inception into the Hip Hop world. His distinctive, hypnotic signature sound is a very visceral listening experience and is made apparent now more than ever in his newest effort ‘Project Home’, an anthemic 10-track mixtape with many crucial defining factors that delve deep into the artist’s artistic merit.

This record is anything but ordinary. Opening tracks “Sobriety Check”and “Hooligan” are very ambient and versatile, capturing a futuristic aura with old school elements accompanied by impressively stylistic bars and a smooth flow. These two tracks in particular really showcase STB’s craft in a way that is effective as well as objective, and really shines a light on his multifaceted approach. The clever lyrical outbursts are diligently put-together, giving each track their own narrative and structure to give a great sense of ability, balance and composure. Another notable track is “Don’t Understand”, which garners a heavy presence of crucial 90s influences emanating from the beat structure, offering up an element of nostalgia not often heard in today’s Hip Hop realm. It’s a refreshing track with a well-written hook, serving up a tasteful melody that parallels brilliantly with the song’s witty bar execution. This one showcases STB at a different angle but supplies the consistency and effectiveness of the previous tracks, giving the listener a taste of versatility as the record plays out. There’s impressive twists and turns on several tracks and you’ll get several doses of many crucial artist elements throughout the mixtape’s duration.
