Coming out the gate of Oklahoma’s prominent music scene, freshman recording artist Kemper Grant has been making strides with his multifaceted Pop/R&B style with 80s Disco elements, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. His noticeably unique sound has garnered him an extensive fan base and insatiable street buzz with his debut album “Jungle”, which features 8 tracks of vibing goodness with a vast array of versatility.

This record is definitely all about the vibes. With the powerful album opener “All Day All Night” (feat. Young Polo), Kemper gets the party started quite nicely and captures very swift vocal melodies, introducing a sensual and vibrant signature sound that is bound to impress you. It’s definitely an instant standout of this record in every way. Other tracks on the album, like “Uber Ride To Cry”, adds impressively unique Disco elements that really gives the album an upbeat angle to facilitate Kemper‘s vocal structures. His sexy and swagger lyrics lend hypnotic themes to the vocal content, which parallels diligently with his mid-to-high range clean voice. It’ll definitely take you for a ride, Uber style. Another standout of this record is the smooth blues guitar-oriented “Round-a-bout”. A crafty, bluesy anthem that really encompasses the soul, and even lends a little bit of sensual rock and roll. Kemper‘s butter smooth vocal melody choices on this track are not only ambient, but visceral as well when you hear the vocal detail and production value. It’s a wholesome, atmospheric song that ties the album together and truly showcases Kemper‘s craft in all its glory, and you’ll most likely be noting this one as an album favorite.

For a debut album, “Jungle” will exceed your expectations greatly. It’s a dynamic record with great sense of production detail and is currently catapulting Kemper‘s career in a very promising direction. The album is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other digital music streaming platforms. You will be more than glad you gave this album a listen, and you will definitely be enticed to keep tabs on what moves Kemper Grant makes next.

Exclusive Press Release: P-81 – “Trapped Behind Bars” Single

Article by: Justyn W. Brodsky

Cover Art of P-81’s new single “Trapped Behind Bars”

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Atlanta-based artist P-81 found his craft with rapping at the age of 12 and began hitting the ground running. With a vast array of influences from industry heavyweights like 2Pac, Biggie, Nas and a host of others, he quickly became a vital voice in the hip hop community and was destined to be heard. His clever lyrical wordplay, cool demeanor and harsh realities, makes him the perfect recipe for what the game has been missing – substance. In 2010, P-81 founded Men of Business Empire LLC and recruited best friend and business partner Kenneth “KC” Carter to hop on board. The two released a compilation showcasing some of Detroit’s best underground talent titled “At Work 1st Shift”. The MOB Train was moving and in full effect with the momentum to keep going.

A year later, creative differences caused a brief derailment in the movement and the established Artist/CEO began to put his focus on releasing a project of his own. In 2013, P-81 released a mixtape titled “City of Dreams” with features from Cash Kola (Detroit artist) and Black Ryan (Cleveland artist). This wasn’t your average club banging mixtape. The project covered several crucial topics that many stray away from within the industry out of fear of ridicule, judgment and/or being blackballed. After the release of the mixtape, tragedy hit home and P-81 had to put his career on pause for awhile and ultimately went on an indefinite hiatus. By 2017, things started to pick back up for the rising artist and eventually shifted back into gear. He began talking to his partner again about the prospect of revamping their initial movement, but doing it bigger and better with a much greater focus than before. And by 2018, the ball was well and rolling until tragedy suddenly struck again. This time with the unexpected and sudden passing of his business partner and 1/2 of the M.O.B. movement, Kenneth “KC” Carter. The two were rolling out a new movement called “F.A.M.O.” (For All My Oppressors) at the time and had incorporated a long term mentee and artist by the name Mic Brown as a key element.

In late 2019, P-81 was hit yet again with the worst tragedy anyone could ever experience…the loss of his oldest twin son. Unfortunately, P-81 was in a common situation that many men face today – fighting the system and mother to be a father to his children. His son was 16 years old and had just started to reach out to him for guidance when his life was suddenly cut short. This was extremely devastating as he prayed and waited for years to build with his sons. Unfortunately, many men don’t get a chance to tell their story until they’re behind bars. Though a free man, P-81 says he has a story to tell for fathers alike by speaking truth and spreading awareness…even if it means he’s “Trapped Behind Bars”.

The single is also available on Tidal, Spotify, Google Play, iTunes, and all other digital music streaming platforms.

Exclusive Review: DJ Raw B – “Uncorrupted” Album

Review by: Justyn W. Brodsky

With a dynamically versatile style and several decades in the business, it’s no wonder pioneer artist/creator DJ Raw B has garnered unwavering accomplishments over the years. And he continues to do so with his latest album ‘Uncorrupted’.

Combining a raw, unique 90s approach with a clever modern spin, this album is a blast of nostalgia as well as a breath of fresh air. The production value is high quality and provides the perfect textures to make this record really stand out both musically and lyrically. Tracks like “Toscin” and “Genesis” have classic 90s grooves with smooth beats and eclectic twists and turns that really showcases DJ Raw B‘s signature sound, while other tracks like “Unspeakable” and “Keynote Speaker” have hauntingly ambient vibes that balance atmosphere and smooth bass lines, and are easily the standouts of the album.

DJ Raw B is no stranger to the industry though; he began hitting the ground running in the early 90s as a co-host/DJ for the critically acclaimed underground San Francisco-based hip hop show Beat Sauce, who brought on a plethora of notable guests including industry heavyweights like Jay-Z, Eminem, OutKast, Common, the Black Eyed Peas, Mobb Deep, among many others. By 2001, DJ Raw B became “Best Local Club DJ” in the San Francisco Bay Guardian, playing shows that ranged from underground hip hop clubs to more lavish higher-end venues. DJ Raw B also got involved with many different collaborations, including Smash Mouth’s performance of their hit song “All Star” in the movie Rat Race. He has also garnered success in the radio circuit, including working on KMEL’s “Sway In The Morning”, KCBS News, and KNBR’s “Morning Show With Murph & Mac”.

With a resumé like that, it’s no wonder that ‘Uncorrupted‘ has the uniqueness that it does, and you can very much hear a successful and skillful DJ throughout every track’s duration. And if you haven’t heard DJ Raw B yet, then this album will make you an instant fan. The album is currently available online and all digital music streaming platforms.

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

We have some heat coming in real hot for the platform, and it comes in the form of the self-produced and self-manifested recording artist and creator, Mannis. The up and comer just dropped two lead singles, which are gonna be featured on his upcoming EP Killed By Love, and so far have created an insatiable buzz that has his fans and St. Louis music scene talking.

After spending his college years at Indiana University writing and releasing music, Mannis graduated with an audience of more than 30,000 monthly listeners/fans on Spotify and a respectable growing fan base. Now with his new EP slated for a 2020 release right around the corner, the R&B/Hip Hop vibe artist dropped two singles that encompass his craft brilliantly. “Scared Of Love”, his first single, is a seductively passionate song with a vibrant beat structure and visceral feel. His clever lyrical outbursts are diligently executed with a precise knack for genuine melody choices that truly bring out the song’s charm and wit. It’s a perfect first impression if it’s your first time hearing Mannis, and his warm, versatile vocal textures are a major standout on this track that will leave you intrigued and eager to hear more.

Which brings us to “L.A.”, his second anchor single. A track that leans more towards a city life vibe and club banger for the dance floor. With Mannis‘s voice still at the helm of the forefront and carrying the song from start to finish, this is another catchy angle of his voice that showcases his signature sound in a way that is effective and innovative; giving the listeners a taste of something fresh while still maintaining a vibe that balances equal parts originality and familiarity. “L.A.” really gets your blood pumping and it’s a track that will likely be next to impossible to get out of your head.

When it comes to these singles, vibes is what comes to mind. The inventive production value aligned with Mannis‘s ambient vocal melodies really bring atmosphere to these songs and leave an unforgettable impression on you. Exclusive Review: 3 Mind Blight – “Breaking Down” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

3 Mind Blight has graced our platform before in January of 2019 with the single “Make This Right” and has garnered thousands of views since the article was published. Finally, today in April of 2020, we get a subsequent single on our platform in the form of “Breaking Down”. 3MB normally known for his hip hop approach takes a much heavier and more emotional role throughout this track that does justice to the title of the song.

3MB is an artist and producer that is well known around his camp for composing songs that center around the feeling and emotion surrounding a song. An aura or subtlety that renders the artist a way to gather material and inspiration for a song’s center piece as it is thought. And that’s where the beauty of Breaking Down” comes into a play. A supercharged and high-gained guitar driven song that is powerfully emotional, full of clever lyricism and rhythmic outbursts that conjure up some powerful buildups and breakdowns,

Each verse hones its own style and even touches on many political spectrums. A beautifully composed piano part slides into the song unexpectedly yet meaningfully, demonstrating the song’s story-telling technique and ability to keep you focus throughout the song’s duration. 3BM low-to-mid ranged voice is powerfully projected just as much as it is soothing and attentive in detail; which makes “Breaking Down” a song that showcases many angles of 3BM‘s detail with many authentic songwriting structures and naturally gifted knack for writing from the heart, and not just robotic as if it were just some fake job. 3 Mind Blight has always been the real deal, and always will be.
