2021 so far has seen some dynamic releases manifesting from several prominent rising artists, especially since the pandemic threw a wrench into the live concert experience. One of those artists is Vienna-based solo musician and producer Benjamin Andrews, a vital versatile voice in the European Rock market who just recently released his newest anthemic single “Dream On”.
Known for his distinctively melodic Alt/Rock signature sound, Andrews with this song continues to prove that he can hit the ground running and raise the bar in the musical realm with every new release he diligently puts together. This track is not only brilliantly crafted, but is also a complete standout in today’s more contemporary modern Rock sensibility – putting together a wholesome and tastefully blended sound that is insatiably melodic and anthemic. The piano progression especially carries the melody-driven key signature and showcases Andrews’ artistic merit in the most effective ways. His vocal melodies are mid-range and parallel perfectly with the story-telling lyrics, rhythmic buildup and overall execution of an undeniably catchy song. While you can hear several artist influences, the balance between originality and familiarity is very apparent. It boasts a nostalgic blend of the 90s Alt/Rock era, the early-mid 2000’s emo movement and today’s modern Rock aura. It’s a solid track that showcases several angles of Andrews’ ability both as a musician and producer.
“Dream On” also sustains great pacing and never drags out in any way. It has dynamically visceral production value and truly grasps onto an authentically atmospheric approach. It also has that staying power where the song stays with you even long after it’s over – leaving each listener with anticipation for what Benjamin Andrews comes out with next. Once you take a listen to this single, you’ll definitely be enticed to dive deeper into his discography and career altogether. You can find “Dream On” on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and several other digital music streaming platforms. You’ll be glad that you did.
Cover Art for Benjamin Andrews’ debut single “Silver Lining”
Hailing from the landscapes of Vienna, artist/songwriter Benjamin Andrews began hitting the ground running in the music spectrum many years ago, mostly playing in bands and collating with other musicians. But with his current situationnot allowing him to meet up with his band mates, mostly due to location, Andrews decided to conjure up his own project, playing all roles, with the help of some session musicians, including engineer/producer. As the project nears the end of production, Benjamin decided to put out his debut single “Silver Lining” as a taste of what’s to come when his full project comes to fruition.
“Silver Lining” is a tasteful blend of Pop and Rock with many multifaceted textures that showcases Benjamin Andrews‘ talents with both performanceand production value. It’s a song for everyone, and was written during Ben‘s first week of lockdown due to COVID19. The song is about hope and optimism even when times are dark, and really brings a feeling of not being alone and getting through trials and tribulations with togetherness. This brilliantly crafted tune has flavorful piano riffs, a tight knit rhythm section and undeniably catchy vocal melody choices that really bring the song’s charm to the forefront. But the standout to me was this song’s use of intelligent chord progressions and key changes. Utilizing a 90s-style Pop/Rock sound with a hint of Pearl Jam’s “Ten” album sensibility, “Silver Lining” is an exceptionally well written song with effective vocal harmonies and a Queen-style guitar solo that ties it all together into one big versatile package. The song is accessible, anthemic, and has staying power where the song stays with you even after the song is over.
For a debut single, Benjamin Andrews really hits it out of the park and will definitely get you pumped for what he has in store next. The song will definitely entice you to delve deeper into Andrew‘s past, present and future. “Silver Lining” is available now on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, and other digital music streaming platforms. You’ll be more than glad you gave it a listen.
