Exclusive Artist Review: Era’nay – “Elevate” EP

EP Cover Art

In today’s overwhelmingly convoluted music industry, not many artists can truly deliver a signature sound and aura that encapsulates the R&B and Soul atmosphere quite like Louisville’s current rising starlet Era’nay. An artist that has been hitting the ground running since her soul soothing voice began gracing the musical landscape with her natural talent, persona, and knack of writing diligently crafted songs that brilliantly balance equal parts originality and familiarity; boasting an authentic style that successfully touches on today’s more modern sensibility as well as yesterday’s nostalgic R&B/Soul eras that have helped garner the impactful genre it is today.

Drawing reminiscence to industry notables like Toni Braxton and Patti Labelle, Era’nay’s songs also preserve a classic sound that almost any avid fan of the world of R&B can resonate with, and we get a deep dive into this musical aura with her most recent EP ‘Elevate’. An anthemic collection of six tracks that truly encompass Era’nay’s authenticity, gifted songwriting/melody structures, ability as a naturally gifted vocalist, and even her vulnerability as an artist – in only the best possibly ways. Opening tracks on this record are “Waiting For” and “In My Feelings (feat. T. Real & Darrin Lee Jr.)”. Both are hypnotic and feel like the best musical back rub you’ve received in decades; and especially sets the tone for what the rest of the record brings. Era’nay’s vocal delivery especially is beautifully subtle in all the right places and really showcases her ability to construct a very powerful, integrative lead melody that is memorable, catchy and leaves you with a visceral listening experience.

Moving onto one of her anchor singles of the EP, her song “Lesson” is a little more upbeat, bluesy and explores a bit more into the facets of her vocal range and musical persona. The Rhodes keys riff on this track from the very beginning is insatiably enticing and really delves into the musicianship factors that brilliantly parallel with the above-average production value. It’s a great demonstration of hearing how Era’nay can integrate her signature style into different musical atmospheres that cover more angles of her artistic merit. This one, just like the previous tracks on this EP, really add to the diversity aspect when it comes to composing effective vocal melodies regardless how much the music can tend to change or shift over.

Lastly, her closing track “Farewell”, which was also released as a single prior to the full EP release, reiterates back to the record’s beginnings with this track’s hypnotic aura. It closes the record with the same modernly nostalgic measures that set the tone for the record in the first place. It’s a brilliant ending to the record that reconnects with the EP’s beginning where it started it all; giving the audience a taste of something fresh yet still identifiable. Overall, Era’nay has served up a six-track hypnotic record that has so far amassed an insatiable presence and reception. It’s a true high-quality record with unquestionably above average production value which has helped create the visceral listening experience that ‘Elevate’ has brought to the table since its release date. It’s a must-hear on just about every account and will leave you with that musical feeling of warmth which has become relatively scarce in today’s modern music realm.

‘Elevate’ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music , iTunes and several other digital music streaming platforms. You’ll be beyond happy you gave her a listen.

Known for her distinctively catchy vocal style and hypnotizing good looks, recording artist Presley Tennant began hitting the ground running in the musical realm after auditioning on NBC’s The Voice – whom was hand selected by show judge Kelly Clarkson to join her vocal team, also prompting her to make a full transition into the world of Country music. She has sung the National Anthem for team greats like the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers, and has also performed alongside several prominent Country stars including Tim McGraw, Cody Johnson, Mike Montgomery, a Vegas duet with Kelly Clarkson, and many others.

Now, with the recent April 12th release of her third anchor single “Bite The Bullet”, Tennant continues to prove that she is a vital voice in the Country market and has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. Her full record “Wish I Could Be That Strong” is slated for release this June and she so far has built an insatiable presence and fan base since the inception of her solo career – winning over fans from several Country music eras nationwide with her natural talent and multifaceted signature sound. We got to sit down with Presley Tennant for a comprehensive interview about her career as well as what she has in store for 2021 and beyond.

How long have you been active under your current artist name?

I’ve always gone by my normal name as my artist name, so pretty much my whole life – haha!

What music scene/city do you currently represent?

I’m born and raised in Norco also known as Horsetown U.S.A! It’s a small little town in Southern California. Everyone knows each other and is such a warm and friendly town!

The pandemic has really thrown a wrench into the live music experience
and for artists altogether. How has it affected you and your career?

The pandemic has definitely taken a toll on performing and live music but has also given artists more time to really hone in and perfect their craft and create more music so as soon as the pandemic is over, we can pick up right where we left off.

What are some of your music influences?

I grew up listening to many different artists from many genres, but the ones that really shaped who I am would be Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Etta James and so many more!

What kind of concepts do you tend to write about as an artist? Shine
some light on that.

I tend to write my music off of personal experiences and stories that I’ve heard from others. I love to write about things I have actually been through, whether it’s just a feeling or a certain situation because I feel like I can connect to the song a lot differently and more personally than I would with a song written about something I haven’t experienced.

When is your next release coming out?

The next release is coming very soon, but in the meantime I just released a new song called “Bite the Bullet”. It’s out now so make sure to stream everywhere and stay tuned for the music video to follow.

What’s in store for you in 2021? Give us the goods.

You can expect lots of new music in 2021 as well as different shows and performances. Next month, I’ll be in Arlington, Texas singing for the Texas Rangers and soon after in Florida for a series of shows.

Exclusive Artist Review: Jeremy Parsons – “Something Other Than You Are” & “Lillian” Singles

San Antonio-based award winning Country/Americana artist Jeremy Parsons has been a driving force in the southern Country market and has built up an insatiable presence since his inception years ago. With a thriving career that has landed him prominent gigs and tours in Europe and all over the US, Parsons continues to prove that he is not going anywhere, and is indeed here to stay. And with the recent release of his newest album ‘Things To Come’ this past January, he has also continued to raise the bar after already setting it high to begin with.

The first anchor single off this record, “Something Other Than You Are”, is an anthemic acoustic number with a climactic buildup, sensual melody structures and a distinctive style that showcases the most effective vocal techniques that Jeremy Parsons utilizes throughout the song’s duration. His vocal range covers many melodic angles and could easily draw comparisons to industry heavyweights like Tom Petty and James Arthur. His vocal precision is also more than impressive and really grabs the listener’s undivided attention from the very first measure without wearing out its impact. Second single “Lillian” is a full band track that diligently blends Country and Rock with driven guitar progressions and an energetically tight-knit rhythm section. Once again, Parsons comes out swinging on this track with crafty lyrics and knockout melody structures that truly make this song an absolute gem.
