Artists can be dime-a-doze, but there is only one Carbonaddy.
This dynamic duo brings forth a pop/groove signature sound to the table that is insatiably witty, charismatically original and contains more versatility than most mainstream groups you’d hear in today’s music spectrum. A solo project conjured from quarantining during the COVID pandemic and comprised of Comp band members Wesley Jensen and Kyle Hawthorne, Carbonaddy brilliantly fuses together a stylization with a futuristic aura that touches on equal parts originality and familiarity; giving each listener something completely fresh yet still identifiable. Utilizing an electronic-infused production style with rhythmic drum sequences and theatrical tempo changes, their newest single “Holly Groove” proves that the title lives up to the name – and grooves away throughout the song’s duration.
This track’s versatility is very apparent and encompasses several multi-layered measures between the bassy progressions and mid-to-high range duel vocals. Each element plays a crucial role in this song and has a structure that is not only clever but multifaceted as well. Diligently executed tempo changes bring additional atmospheres to the forefront, all while holding down consistency between the track’s theatrical edge. And this is perhaps not only one of the biggest charms this track has going for it, but a masterfully mixed production value as well; putting emphasis in all the right places. Wesley’s vocals have a plethora of styles and ranges utilized throughout each verse, chorus and breakdown; delivering something different each time but still letting the listener know that it is indeed the same singer pulling this all off at the same time.
Another notable component is the essence of groove this song puts forth. From solid 8th note rhythms to strong snare & bass measures, the addictively rhythmic raucous creations through the dexterous rhythm section is impossible to go unnoticed, and parallels perfectly with Wesley’s powerful and distinctive vocal textures, ranging from breathy to full-on projection. Neoborn Caveman has graced our platform before. And the more we get to know him, the more versatility of his musical stature comes to light. His single “12 Ways of Love” is definitely a rollercoaster ride of one of his many angles of multifaceted goodness that truly shines on a path that bridges the gap between originality and familiarity; giving us even more insight into NC‘s soundscapes and artistic merit.
Utilizing a more electronically infused signature sound, from beginning to end, NC‘s vocals resonate both lyrically and rhythmically parallel. And that’s what makes this song truly unique – we get to indulge into NC‘s vocal abilities in ways that are multilayered with standouts of their own.
The usage of EDM is very anthemic and organized. Everything flows melodically much like his other material, but, “12 Ways of Love” is a modern treat for the ears that brings forth a futuristic sound that is also comprised of many familiar vocal melody structuring. And that’s another facet of this song – structuring. We get genre-bending elements that are surprising but still smoothly transitioned in a way that doesn’t throw the song off. Oh, and the subtlety in NC‘s voice manages to sustain perfectly alongside his musical character. The many elements used to suspend every measure of this song is chosen wisely and crafted carefully. This song has twists and turns, but never strays from its actual foundation that the track starts with. “12 Ways Of love” is one big dose of versatility with its own sense of sweetness, splendor and charm all doused in one electronic package of compelling production value.

Cover Art of Kevin Sihwan’s “Catch Up” Album
When it comes to Philly/NYC’s Kevin Sihwan, DJing is the name of the game, along with the mastering of production value. Originally hailing from South Korea, Kevin has always sustained an insatiable passion for the electronically infused genre and the prospect of creating music throughout the EDM world. Once he came to the states to attend school in Philadelphia, that passion would come to fruition with his amazing energies and versatile six track banger, “Catch Up.”
Well, we certainly caught up with Kevin‘s album, and it has quite the ability to turn heads when it comes to multifaceted EDM stylizations. Title track “Catch Up” really sets the tone nicely with its bassy forefront and really utilizes buildups effectively while also being able to change moods. Don’t let the bass get ya! But it certainly will. The structure is dynamic, flows consistently and never tries to outdo itself. “Fallout” continues with its intensity-driven buildups and breakdowns, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to really putting a signature tone on the production value. It’s definitely the most melodic track and definitely resonates between one sequence to the next. The synth parts are beautifully crafted and really helps carry the torch when it comes to the album’s versatility.
“Bassline” has a little bit of a change of pace and adds a fun Hip Hop edge with excellent video game pacing. This track’s interlude is definitely anthemic and really flows perfectly with the feature vocal track. It’s another solid demonstration of what Kevin can do behind a mixing board, and never strays himself far from his own creative signature sound. This track just might end up being your favorite. “Rolling Thunder” showcases more drums and synths than anything and truly gives every angle of this track strength. The “whoa!” parts of this track definitely add a very significant touch that really keeps the listener focused and willing to stay for the whole ride. “Dance All Night” and “Get To Me” are perfect closing tracks to this record. While “Dance All Night” sticks to a similar formula to the previous tracks, it’s the 90’s and Rhodes Blues influences this song offers up with a very effective female vocal feature that truly makes this closer a gem. It’s a softer touch compared to the other tracks, but adds so much charm to the point where this change up can be perfectly warranted. It has melodic structure that really steps up to the plate, a visceral vibe and untouchable likability factors .
“Catch Up” starts and ends with a bang. These can easily be club hitters that could get any dance floor moving and any crowd vibing. While the record has its twists and turns, it still sticks to that signature sound that Kevin Sihwan manifests from the beginning – and never lets up. This is a six-track record that will blow the lid off any EDM enthusiast, and the production value is one of many reasons, but a crucial one to say the least. “Catch Up” is a melodic journey of buildups and breakdowns that everyone will love.
