Us at Artist Reach caught up with Iontez in an exclusive interview recently regarding the prospect of his career’s future and plans for 2021 and beyond.

•I see you got into music at the age of 13. How did that all manifest during that time? What inspired you to start so young?

Music is something that I enjoy doing. I was inspired to make music by my friend Moonz from Sweden who told me that I should start recording music and that I was a good at rapping. Ever since then I loved making music and it is amazing to also be able to make money off of something I enjoy and love to do.

Give us some insight on how you came up with your artist name.

My artist name is the same exact name I used for my gaming username. I thought the name would be perfect because it is unique and it makes it easy to find my music, all you have to do is search up “Iontez” and you can find everything.

•I see you have quite an eclectic background as well. MWho are some of your artist influences?

My influences are very versatile and you can hear it in my music. Some of my artist influences range from Playboi Carti, Duwap Kaine, BoofPaxkMooky, SauxePaxkTB, Yanko 7th, NAV, Young Thug, Chief Keef, and the list goes on.

We’ve had quite the pandemic sweep the nation and world at large this year. How has it affected you and how have you been utilizing your time during this COVID period?

It gave me more time to work on my music since school is closed. I have a studio setup in my room so I can work on my music any time I want instead of spending money and having to drive to a studio. The pandemic really had a positive impact on my career.

•I see you’re from the Winston-Salem area. How has that scene treated you and what would be one of the best parts about the scene? (Venues, other artists, etc.)

Winston-Salem is slept on. We have some of the greatest artists from here. Shoutout to Tia Corine, Apex3400, KloK, SauxePaxkTB (Rest In Peace), 52Paco, and there is so much more talented artists from Winston-Salem. I’m trying to put us on the map, when you hear North Carolina you think of Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham and Greensboro but I want Winston-Salem to come to your mind when you hear North Carolina.

What’s the name of your most recent release and what are your plans for 2021?

My most recent song is called 336 and it features my bro Lil Joker on it. It’s currently up on YouTube and SoundCloud. My plans for 2021 is that I’m going to stay working on my music and keep up my grind. I’m probably going to release a EP in 2021 too so stay tuned.
