Exclusive Artist Review: The Harmalators – “Two Great Minds Think Alike” Album

We’ve had The Harmalators duo on our platform before, and they have yet to do disappoint. Since that time, the elite Californi-natives have put together another plethora of colorfully eclectic songs with top notch production value and songwriting technique versatility – some which have landed them in award/charting positions. Comprised of eight amazingly blissful textures and structures that melodically soar throughout the musical landscape, the two brothers in The Harmalators have truly hit it out of the park with their 8-track collective, titled ‘Two Great Minds Think Alike‘, an exercise in innovation, thoroughness, blissfulness and so much more that’ll captivate your musical aura and ambience.

Opening track “Love On Fire” really emphasizes their vocal melody approach, all while keeping that indie feel at the forefront with several facets of different instruments playing their respective roles. Each vocalist really helps enhance the other and you can tell that their togetherness and solidification really puts the melody strength into the writing structure in its entirety. It’s a brilliant intro to the album that will easily entice you to listen to the duration of the record in its entirety.

“Where Would I Be Without You” is a much more simple listen but is undeniably a much more basic structure – and that is held to the highest regard. It’s a shorter song, one that is easily to take in as a classic, and could definitely be heard as an intro to one of those 90s sitcoms (a GOOD one, by the way). Another facet of this track is to find it impossible to get it out of your head. From its title track lyrics, addictive melody structure and just overall charming presence with its well-put-together.

Overall, ‘Two Great Minds Think Alike’ insatiably showcase both brothers’ strongest points in both production and performance value in ways that entice any listener to hear what they’ve put together over the years together and solo-wise as well. They’ve put out a small catalogue of their innovative gems in the past foür😝 its time, but this 8-track collection of highly-produces bliss will definitely turn some heads; especially when an album like this is in the band’s arsenal.

“Two Great Minds Think Alike” have also garnered them some award status. Including…

If this is the first time you’ve heard the first time you’ve heard The Harmalators, then it definitely won’t be the last!

Exclusive Artist Review: Blonde Furniture – “When You Sleep” & “Start The Revolution” Singles

The veteran musicians of Connecticut-based Alt-Rockers Blonde Furniture have been insatiably active since 1983 and have put out a vast array of tunes that have drawn in fans from several Rock-infused eras. Flash forward to 2020 after an extensive career, the band recently put out their most recent record ‘Music For Early Century Modern’ which has amassed a new generation of listeners and critical acclaim. After listening to two of the album’s anchor singles, we can see (and hear) exactly why.

First single “When You Sleep” is a grungy and rockabilly-infused track with a cruising rhythm section and crafty, dirty guitars with a flavorful crunch. This catchy song is not only well written, but full of tastefully nostalgic measures that will start the mosh pit in no time. If the Dead Kennedys and REM got together for a jam session, it would definitely sound something like this. Second single “Start The Revolution” is amazingly anthemic and has knockout versatile vocals by singer/songwriter and founding member Bill Dumas, who shines brightly with all his musical glory on this track. This 5 minute song is rhythmically clever, undeniably melodic and truly has a calibre of originality that stands on its own completely. This track in particular is a game changer and will definitely entice you to listen to the rest of the record with undivided attention.

If this is your first time listening to Blonde Furniture, then these singles will win you over instantly. This band’s legacy is something to behold and this record is direct evidence of the unwavering talent they’ve brought to many ears since they formed decades ago. You can check out both singles below and the album is available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and several other digital music streaming platforms.

Exclusive Review: “We Are In An Identity Crisis, But We Really Like It” LP

This charismatic’s very bassy, ominous and whispery vocals that are heavily reliant on rhythm sections are almost impossible to go unnoticed. The jazziness is almost gripping when it comes to the UK’s Wild Horse‘s indie and relentless rock record We Are In An Identity Crisis, But We Love It that manages to put 16-brilliant songs in many multifaceted ways in the best ways possible.

Introductory track “Sympathy” is a very indie guitar-oriented track with a disco drum feel to its mantra. Lots of personality in the vocals truly brings enchanting choruses to the forefront with sweltering guitar swings and love for the power of the indie rock calbre….just the way it’s supposed to be. Moving on to track “Times Up“,There’s a plethora of dynamic story telling aura in this song, and Times Up is definitely one of them. Time to up our guy!

Moving into “Broken and Forgotten“, the perfect crossbreed of blues, indie and rock components all placed in the perfect but measuredly-measure among this song this one really brings the three-harmony, key-change and true emo-soul nostalgia completely to the forefront makes this one fun and truly a fun filled redemption .

So many tasty tracks. The bluesy indie-blues tastiness of “Eager”, the unrelenting energy of “My Friend Said”, the funky vibey and reggae-ish tone of “Can’t!” and the subtleness of “True”, a song that truly explores the upwards, downwards, and so much atmosphere that is implemented. All 16-tracks of have brilliant choruses, relentless choruses and full of life stories that truly bring life to the solid ground; without cooking cutting, without lies to make you feel better and with a cutting edge sword that truly comes towards you, but never hurts – just cuts delicately and delivering the hungry truth from the angle you yourself see it through your eyes. And that’s what this record is about — good times, the now-and-then wonders of life of putting one front foot in the other. Oh, and the occasional adversity, and how you deal with it.

This is 16-track really gets into your head and truly puts the depth into meaning. We Are In An Identity Crisis, But We Love It. It tells many stories, philosophies, fun, complain to, and tightly driven from beginning to end. CAN’T STOP (MEETING ON THE DANCE FLOOR) — A feel-good tune about being in love with your clubbing friend who’s in a happy relationship with someone else…”

Key artists influencing can’t stop (meeting on the dancefloor) – Stevie wonder, Martha and the Vandellas, Blossoms, Wham.

THE ROOM” — “This track is really just a reaction to 2020 as a year. The feeling of being confined to one “room”, as many people were during lockdown /quarantining, is a difficult one and the lack of human contact has made life feel a bit hazy. This track also touches on the increased sense of division between people this year, with violence becoming more and more prevalent, symbolized by the horrific murders of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor and so many more, and the fact that equal rights for all has become a political issue rather than a necessity of life. 2020 has been a strange year, one that I’m sure we wish we could all forget.”

Be sure to keep up with Wild Horse as they continue to write about the pandemic and be sure to all so to have a holly jolly Christmas!

Artist Review: Kevin Maze – “Been A Long Time” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

Through innovative production value and an authentic take on today’s modern visceral Dance music, we get a rhythmic adventure from the modern realm of Kevin Maze‘s newest studio creation “Been A Long Time”.

This track impressively resonates with yesterday’s classic Dance vibes and today’s EDM sensibility. It’s a well crafted piece that would be suitable for raves, clubs, soundtracks and several other musical atmospheres

. The song takes off from the very first measure, builds up with each tasty additive, but never wavers from its rhythmic drive. And that’s what makes it a fun filled Dance anthem from beginning to end.

Utilizing samples that are appropriately placed without convoluting the song, “Been A Long Time” is a steady buildup of well paced measures and sequences that keep the energy flowing on the dance floor. There are no unnecessary theatrics and Maze definitely proves with this track that less is definitely more.

Overall, this track demonstrates what Dance music has always been about. Rhythm, pacing, vibes and authenticity. And it’s a breath of fresh air to hear Kevin Maze produce a track that sticks to that formula. You’ll be dancing all the way into 2019.
